Generation Alpha, born between 2010 and 2024, is the first generation to grow up entirely in the 21st century. They are often referred to as the true “digital natives.”

They’ve had the internet and the smartphone since birth and are expected to be the most technologically savvy and globally connected generation ever.

Here are some key differences that set Generation Alpha apart from the rest of the people on Earth:

1. A Truly Digital Native Generation

Generation Alpha is the first to be fully immersed in a digital world from the moment they enter it. Growing up surrounded by smartphones, tablets, and smart devices, these children effortlessly navigate the intricacies of technology, showcasing an innate digital fluency that surpasses previous generations.

They believe most surfaces are touchscreens and wouldn’t know how to work a rotary phone, much less identify it.

2. Global Citizens with a Local Touch

Generation Alpha is more globally aware than any generation before them. They regularly connect with peers from around the world, without any thought or regard for geographic or political boundaries.

But this global perspective is balanced by the high value they place on local communities. Generation A understands the value of a close-knit community that supports each other.

3. Changing Family Dynamics

Many members of Generation Alpha did not grow in traditional institutions. They are products of society’s evolving attitudes towards marriage, gender roles, and parenting. This generation woke up to diverse family setups, with single-parent households, same-sex couples, and blended families becoming increasingly common.

As a result, “Generation A” folks are some of the most inclusive and accepting people in history.

4. Educational Revolution

Traditional education has not aged well. It hasn’t had its hold on “Gen A.”

With a wealth of online resources and interactive learning tools, these youngsters have access to information in ways that were unimaginable for previous generations. So learning is not classroom-centric, or teacher-centric. It’s social media directed.

The emphasis on creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills takes precedence over rote memorization, preparing them for an unpredictable future.

5. Environmental Stewards

This is the most environmentally conscious generation to date. As the first generation to fully experience the impact of climate change, Generation Alpha is attuned to environmental issues.

From school initiatives promoting sustainability to a preference for eco-friendly products, these children are growing up with a heightened sense of environmental responsibility. They may very well be the driving force behind significant shifts towards a more sustainable and eco-conscious world.

6. Tech-Driven Entrepreneurship

These folks saw the rise of the gig economy and remote work, and this is influencing their career aspirations. The traditional career paths of their predecessors are not as appealing to them. Instead, they are likely to embrace entrepreneurship, utilizing technology to create innovative solutions and disrupt established industries.

This Generation is like no other. And in a couple of years, they are poised to be in positions of leadership and be a transformative force, bringing with them a unique set of values, skills, and perspectives shaped by the digital age.

Let’s help them succeed.

It will be a win for all!
